Improving the quality of drugs is a problem that cannot be ignored in the capsule pills production and research and development of and new drugs. How to improve stability can find solutions based on the influencing factors mentioned in the previous article. In addition to the stability of the drug prescription design, the pharmaceutical manufacturer should consider the stability of the drug during the packaging process of the capsule.

Prescription design

Some of the medicinal materials are easy to absorb moisture after being pulverized, and the fluidity is poor, so that the finished capsules are softened and sticky after being put for a long time. Therefore, the powder should be sufficiently dried before filling the capsule. The physical properties such as moisture absorption and fluidity of the powder can be improved by adding excipients and the like.

Capsule sealing

After the hard capsule is filled with the drug, a coating film is coated on the condensation portion of the capsule to avoid contact between the contained drug and the moisture and oxygen in the outside air, thereby improving the stability of the drug before the capsule is packaged. At the same time, a blister pack is used for secondary sealing.

Capsule packaging

Capsule pills are generally mainly packaged in plastic bottles. The plastic bottle has a certain water permeability, ventilation, and light transmission properties. How to seal is not strict, this packaging will have an impact on the stability of the drug. For oxidizable and hygroscopic drugs, glass bottles, double aluminum foil and nitrogen-filled packaging can be used to prevent the drug from absorbing or oxidizing. But please consider the cost of packaging.

Drug storage

The storage of pill capsules has a great impact on the quality, because the capsules are affected by heat, light, water vapor, air, etc. in a room temperature environment. Therefore, the temperature, humidity and light level of storage should be strictly controlled. The general temperature should be controlled at around 25 °C, and the relative humidity should be controlled at 30%-45%.
